Douglas Lind of the SIU School of Law is an award-winning legal historian who loves to help students with their research. Earlier this year, Lind received the 2021 Joseph L. Andrews Legal Literature Award from the American Association of Law Libraries for co-authoring “The Leaven of Sympathy: A Bio-Bibliography of Frederick C. Hicks.” He previously won the organization’s same award in 2013 for his sourcebook, “Lincoln’s Suspension of Habeas Corpus: the Pamphlet Literature and Congressional Debate.”

#SalukiPrideSaluki Pride: Jessica Crowe goes beyond the classroom to teach sociology

Jessica Crowe, associate professor of sociology, is an innovative teacher and an influential researcher and author. In fact, Crowe and SIU colleagues received $1.7 million from the National Science Foundation’s S-STEM program for the Upper Delta Region Biodiversity Scholarship Program, to provide educational opportunities in biological sciences for students, particularly those from underrepresented groups.

Cody Suddeth is SIU’s 2021 Student Employee of the Year

Cody Suddeth was determined to make the most of his college experience while attending Southern Illinois University Carbondale. The first-generation Saluki did that by getting involved in activities both on- and off-campus while also maintaining a 3.92 GPA and working in the undergraduate advisement office for the College of Agricultural, Life and Physical Sciences.
