Looking for fun things to do on campus before Christmas break? SIU offers many events for students during the first two weeks of December. Keep reading to learn more about what you might be interested in attending before break.
1. Final Stretch Week
The week before finals (12/2-12/6), the Student Programming Council plans events. Dec. 4th is Hot Cocoa Day, Dec. 5th is Holiday Movie Trivia, and Dec. 6th is Holiday Photo with Grey Dawg. These events will be exciting, so mark your calendars now! Follow them on Instagram to keep up to date on all of these events!
2. Saluki Athletics
Track, Women’s Basketball, and Men’s Basketball have a busy season and would love the support! On Tuesday, Dec. 3rd, the SIU Men’s Basketball will be playing Bradley University Braves at 7 PM at Banterra Center. On Dec. 6-7, SIU Track will be running in Saluki Fast Start at the Rec. Last, Men’s Basketball plays the University of Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles on Dec. 7th at Banterra Center at 2 PM.
3. School of Theater Show
The SIU School of Theater and Dance will perform A Christmas Carol at McLeod Theater. It will be at 7:30 PM on Dec. 5-7 and 2 pm on Sunday, Dec. 8th. Tickets are $10 each for students and can be purchased online, over the phone, and in-person at the McLeod Theater Box Office. Be sure to attend and enjoy this holiday show!
4. School of Music Composition Studio Recital
Come enjoy some wonderful music at the School of Music recital. This will be on Friday, Dec. 6th from 7:00-9:30 PM.
5. Cookies and Cocoa with the Chancellor
Students are invited to this event with Chancellor Lane. Be sure to drop by and enjoy a tasty treat! This will be on Dec. 11th from 8-10 AM at Anthony Hall.
If you are interested in Winter Break Housing, you must sign up for break housing through the Housing Portal. The deadline to apply is Monday, Dec. 9th. Have a wonderful break and finals week, Salukis!
