A new semester is the perfect opportunity for a soft reset. It is important to set yourself up for success from the start! Keep reading to learn how you can start off strong this semester.
1. Read the Syllabus
The syllabus for each class is the road map for the entire semester. Make sure that you read through it carefully and ask questions if needed. It will likely cover important information such as grading policies, deadlines, rules for attendance, late work, office hours, etc.
2. Have a Planner
Writing information down into a planner is much easier than trying to remember everything in your head. I highly recommend having a planner so that you can keep track of deadlines and homework that needs to be completed. Your brain will thank you!

3. Access myTextbooks
All students will receive their materials for a low program cost of $26 per credit hour via myTextbooks. You are automatically enrolled in the program when you register for classes, ensuring that the required materials are ready and available by the first day of class. Digital materials will be accessed through D2L. If physical materials are required, you will be emailed by the University Bookstore with pickup and shipping information to receive these materials. There is also an opportunity to opt out.
4. Take Care of Yourself
Taking care of yourself is important when it comes to staying successful. Make sure that you are getting enough sleep, eating good food, and moving your body as much as possible. Leave time for things that you enjoy as well! This will help you stay motivated and look forward to your week.

5. Ask for Help
Do not be afraid to ask for help! Email the professor and attend office hours. You can also use tutoring or the writing center. Asking questions early on shows responsibility and initiative. It is also way less scary to ask questions in week two than week ten!
Starting the semester strong is all about being intentional and prepared. By staying organized, taking care of yourself, and using the resources available to you, you can set yourself up for a successful and less stressful spring semester. Have a wonderful semester, Salukis!
