Halloween Activities on Campus

Happy Halloween Eve! This year, SIU held many events to celebrate Halloween on campus. Keep reading for a recap of these events!

1. Pumpkin Carving

Pumpkin carving is a popular tradition for people to do for Halloween. This year, Green Earth Inc. gave students and faculty the opportunity to carve pumpkins on campus for free!

2. Pumpkin Glow 2025

Green Earth Inc. held a pumpkin glow nighttime hike for anyone (students or public) to walk in! People had the opportunity to stroll through the woods at night to view over 750 jack-o-lanterns. The coolest part about it is that all of the jack-o-lanterns were made by students/faculty at the pumpkin carving on campus! Free hayrides were also available.

3. The Great Glass Pumpkin Sale

Glass pumpkins made by SIU students are a permanent, must-have Halloween decoration! The glass program in the School of Art and Design created hundreds of pumpkins that were sold in the program’s annual fundraiser. It was a great turnout! The money raised helps fund programs such as the Visiting Scholar/Artist-in-Residence Program, the Visiting Artist Series, and student field and conference trips that enhance their educational experiences. It also helps pay for building glass melting furnaces and other major glassblowing equipment.
